Summer is upon us, and I’ve been working on a new project that I’m REALLY excited to share with you very soon!
First, though, if you’re in the New Hampshire area, I’m happy to share that I’ll be doing some in-person events around the state over the next few months:
- Saturday, July 18, 11am-2pm – Writing and Candles at CandleTree in Concord, NH
- Saturday, July 25, Noon-4pm – Local Authors Book Fair at the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester, NH (hosted by Manchester Craft Market)
- Saturday, August 15, 5pm – Author Reading with Josh Bresslin and Ricky Mailhot at Tilly Market Cafe in Belmont, NH
- Saturday, September 12 – SECRET NEW CHAPBOOK PROJECT BOOK RELEASE at MainStreet BookEnds in Warner, NH (full details and time coming soon!)
- Saturday, September 19, 9am-4:30pm – Author Table at Hooksett Old Home Day in Hooksett, NH
- Saturday, September 26, 1pm – Chat with author Laura Knoy about her new novel, The Shopkeeper of Alsace at the Wilmot Public Library in Wilmot, NH
I’m excited to be back on the road and doing author events (and really excited to be interviewing former NHPR radio host Laura Knoy!), but even more than this, I’m really, really excited to announce my new chapbook project being released in September.
Secret New Chapbook Project!!
Because some of the specifics are still in flux, details of my Secret New Chapbook Project have to remain secret for at least a little while longer, but here’s what I can tell you now:
- It’s set in the same universe as Carcrash Parker and the Haven of Larpers
- It’s about the length of a long short story or a short novella
- It’s a half size, paperbound book
- It’s a political satire
- Half of the proceeds from the launch will go to a good cause
- It’s a collaboration
- It’ll be available for pre-order in August and released September 12th
The Secret New Chapbook Project is coming together VERY fast—I had the idea and wrote the outline back in May, started the draft and reached out to my collaborator in June, and secured an in-person release date less than a week ago.
All of this is possible because 1) Short projects move faster than long ones, 2) Indie projects can move faster than larger press projects, 3) I’m on a tight schedule, which really pushed me to get moving, and 4) I’ve planned author events before and know how to get them together.
I’m also having a lot of fun with this new project, and am working on it while I’m also revising my new novel (currently about 1/3 of the way through Draft 2). While I was originally afraid that working on two projects at once would be too stressful to manage, I’m actually liking it a lot, since I can choose which one I want to work on each morning depending on how I’m feeling.
In any case, watch for more details very soon as more of the book and launch details get finalized. This is going to be a fun one, and as always, thanks for following along!
